Thoughts on Piano Music, Nature & Life
Indian Summer Blues

It is like watching an hour glass…
It seems to me that writing about the seasons makes them swirl by even faster. It’s indeed like watching the sand in the hour glass…It does’t seem to be moving at all (especially when you are hungry and eager to eat these soft boiled eggs) and all of a sudden, it’s gone! So goes time and life.
Just yesterday salmon were ascending streams, strong and eager to spawn. Now, they lie among the stones, their carcasses rotting away, hollow eye sockets staring into the void. Others still struggle , gasping for air while gulls fly over and wait patiently for them to kick their tail one last time. Kind of sad.
And yet I love the fall. My favorite season really. Perhaps I am a little biased as this is prime time for steelhead fly fishing. Nice balmy days, stunning colors of gold, yellow, red and green. The river is crystal clear. This is the time for clarity as featured in my latest CD “Enchanted River”. Geese are leaving, there is a stillness in the air as if mother nature’d be holding her breath. Time to reflect on one’s own mortality. Time to relax, sit on a rock, smoke perhaps a good cuban cigar and listen to the water’s music.
Speaking about music, pretty soon I’ll be preparing my four concerts in Prince George, Prince Rupert, Terrace and Smithers, all due in November. Please see my piano solo performance schedule. This will in all likelyhood take some precious time away from fly fishing but it will just be like slipping from one Nirvana into another.
How fortunate I am to be spending my time between fishing and music!
Oh well, yes, I do the dishes from time to time! Not very well though, perhaps in an unconscious effort to discourage my wife from asking me again…
Cheers
Serge
